I am particularly interested in the way contemporary artists use the internet to proliferate their work. I think that The New York Times creates especially interesting online galleries and exhibitions. While browsing I found this great photo slideshow by Tom Starkweather. Enjoy!

Women In Photography

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Cara Phillips is starting in important project to promote women photographers called Women In Photography.

Women In Photography is currently seeking submissions to be featured once a month on their website. Their purpose is:

To showcase work, news and ideas from women in the contemporary photo world.
To create a collection of strong work by women actively creating work.
      To reach new audiences collectively.

Cara has been writing extensively about the issues facing women in photography today on her blog, Ground Glass. I suggest that you all take a moment to read up on her entries and thoughts regarding the subject.

Deadline Extended!

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

We are pleased to announce that our deadline has been extended until 11:59PM EDT April 7, 2008.

Since our turn-around time must now be a week faster we will be increasing the application fee to $45 for all new applicants.

An important reminder to those who have already paid the application fee but not yet submitted their files on our application: you can still upload your files at no additional cost. In our mind, you were at least half on time. This luxury will not be offered after the final April 7th deadline.

All images and applications must be uploaded by 11:59PM EDT April 7, 2008. Please plan accordingly as exceptions and special arrangements cannot be made.

Everyone will next hear from us on April 15, 2008 when we announce the selected photographers for the first year of Pause, to Begin.

We are looking forward to reviewing all of your applications and good luck to those who have applied.

Best wishes,

Ethan Jones and David Wright
